Monterey, California is a popular tourist destination because of its rich history, local art, breathtaking ocean views, one-of-a-kind shopping, scenic trails and quaint architectural style. During your stay, be sure to visit the Dali17 Museum.
Dali17 Museum
The Dali17 museum is a local history showcase with a collection of maritime artifacts and rotating art exhibitions that center around the premise to revive Spanish artist Salvador Dali’s life by showing how his work influenced the local area and captures the rich history that ties him to the region.
The museum includes original etchings, mixed media, lithographs and rare sculptures by Salvador Dali. The name of the museum ties his influence and history to the original 17 Mile Drive, where he lived and worked during the 1940’s and was heavily involved in the social art scene. Previously exhibited in Spain and Belgium, this is the first time Dali’s work has been showcased permanently on the West Coast and happens to be the largest private collection on exhibition in the United States today. The museum is open Sunday-Thursday from 10am-5pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am-6pm.
